Let’s do away with the old-school age limit on presidents.

Much has changed since the Constitution was written in 1787. America has witnessed the advent of steam engines and microchips, the abolition of slavery and a doubling of life expectancy — which in the late-18th century tapped out at around age 40.

Here’s something that hasn’t changed: our adherence to the constitutional clause that requires presidents to be 35 or older. When we look to the leading parties’ nominees, we don’t just see a misogynistic lunatic and a Democrat. We see a 70-year-old and a 69-year-old with a demonstrated ability to maneuver in (and around) a democracy that many voters no longer trust. Article II, Section 1, Clause 5: You’ve let us down.

This presidential election race has been one for the record books — including for Pinocchios.

Learn more about the biggest Pinocchios from both candidates. (elyse samuels/The Washington Post)This presidential election race has been one for the record books — including for Pinocchios. In many ways, it was an unbalanced race. Donald Trump has amassed such a collection of Four-Pinocchio ratings — 59 in all — that by himself he’s earned as many in this campaign as all other Republicans (or Democrats) combined in the past three years. His average Pinocchio rating was 3.4. (By contrast, the worst Pinocchio rating in 2012 was earned by Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota — an average of 3.08 Pinocchios.)Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, ended up with an average Pinocchio rating of 2.2. That put her in about the same range as President Obama and former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney in 2012. (She had a total of seven Four-Pinocchio ratings.) If not for her statements about the email controversy, which earned her lots of Pinocchios, her average rating would have been much lower. Here are some of the lowlights of the 2016 campaign.

With three full days left in the campaign, Donald Trump’s pathway to the presidency is narrow, defined and unforgiving. It begins by the Republican nominee, who continues to trail Hillary Clinton in most national polls, sweeping three must-win electorally rich battleground states: Ohio (18 electoral votes), Florida (29) and North Carolina (15)

Washington (CNN)Democrats are building an early voting lead in North Carolina and Nevada, but Republicans maintain an edge in Florida and Ohio, according to a CNN analysis.

With five days to go, registered Republicans also lead Democrats in early voting in Arizona, while Democrats are also ahead in Colorado and Iowa.
More than 30 million votes have been cast already across 38 states with early voting. So far, about 7.4 million registered Democrats and about 6.4 million Republicans have done just that.
