"è arrivato il momento di confrontarsi col vecchio e inviso concetto di “censura” oggi reso obsoleto e di difficile applicazione per la molteplicità di mezzi di fruizione delle immagini", dicono i vertici delle associazioni dei genitori

Bill Murray’s “A Very Murray Christmas” on Netflix hearkens back to the days when the broadcast networks ruled TV. Guess who rules TV now?

BILL MURRAY’S “A Very Murray Christmas” starts streaming on Netflix today. It’s an hour-long throwback to what a lot of television once was: an old fashioned variety show. The story doesn’t matter much; what does is the sentiment. Murray sings, he dances, he laments, and he drinks. He’s joined by Amy Poehler, Chris Rock, George Clooney, and Miley Cyrus, among others. And while the songs haven’t changed all that much since the ’50s, the homage has been updated with just the right amount of self-awareness for our more self-conscious time. The filmmaker looks back at his creations, and decision to sell them to Disney.

At the ranch, yes. Yes. Feel it flowing within you. The gate, the road, the hills, the trees, the vineyard. You, him, the house. Luminous beings are we. This was all built in the 1980s with piles of that initial “Star Wars” money, yet the main house was made to look several decades older, grander, Victorian — authentically ersatz, basking in the Marin County sun. Catholicism’s Surprising New Fan Club

Pubblicato: 2 dicembre 2015 in cultura

A religion better known for declining numbers is growing like wildfire here.

It’s a good time to be pope, at least if you’re Francis. He may not be quite as dreamy as, say, Justin Trudeau, but he’s almost certainly the first pope in history that people Facebook about to up their own social cachet. What’s more, Pope Cool Guy is part of a Catholic Church that may no longer be tanking, at least in one place. Leggi il seguito di questo post »

To everything there is a season, and now is the season to reconsider faith-based charity.

In the post-Dubya era, we haven’t heard much about one of his old project faves — faith-based charity. Naturally, it’s not exactly territory Obama might want to tread in right now. Say “religion” and “charity” and you might start thinking Hobby Lobby-staffed health clinics. For women.

It’s time to reconsider.
