Usa, uno stile di vita mortale. Gli americani muoiono per droga o incidenti automobilistici. Nel caos delle notizie internazionali che si rincorrono ogni giorno, i dati statistici sull’aumento della mortalità negli Usa dovrebbero saltare in prima pagina. Per la prima volta, dopo più di venti anni, un paese industrializzato e benestante (una delle economie nazionali più floride e potenti del mondo) fa registrare un inedito aumento dei tassi di mortalità. Si tratta di percentuali piccole, in fondo, ma ciò che fa riflettere è nei dettagli. Il tasso di mortalità è aumentato, nel 2015, fra i bianchi americani di un’età compresa fra i 45 e i 54 anni. Non cambiano invece le statistiche fra gli ispanici e gli afroamericani. Fra le cause di morte diminuisce l’incidenza dei tumori ma crescono gli indicatori dei decessi per avvelenamento (da droghe, soprattutto) e per incidenti automobilistici. Papa Francesco lo va ripetendo da tempo. Lo stile della vita contemporanea è contrario alle legittime…
